@Afraser got in before me.  It seems that @Patti Js ALTD is only available online at the moment according to their website but may be worth keeping an eye out for.  Maybe Dan's should be having tastings of these things as they do for wines.

Try before you buy is always a good policy @Sister 😉.

@Afraser How does Edenvale compare to normal strength wine? Is it like grape juice or does it have some complexity? (I usually drink Pinot Grigio or Sav Blanc)

Complexity? No, not really. It's better (much less sweet!) than grape juice, but pretty light on character. I favour red, love a temperanillo or a Sangiovese, and Edenvale isn't. The problem for me is what's an alternative glass or two,  particularly with a meal? Fruit juice gets nauseating and is full of sugar, carbonated drinks ditto, mineral or soda water is better but scarcely exciting, water is pure and boring!

So if I have a couple of reds on a weekend it shouldn’t be too much of a threat. Right?? Aagghh!!!! It’s enough to make a person drink...

Maggie Beer also has some nice non-alcoholic wine.

My understanding is a couple of glasses on the weekend isn't too much of a danger @Doodoo. But ask your oncologist. I'm going to next time I see her. K xox

It would be great if everyone asked their oncologist. Interested to read all the varied replies

I did.  I asked mine and he said that he reads each new study in the hope that someone says something positive!  His advice was moderation.  That there's nothing wrong with having a drink as long as it's not turning into an everyday type of thing (I will say here that from his name and cultural allusions, I'm sure his background is Italian).  His take on things seems to be about living and enjoying life while still being aware of risks although I may be misrepresenting him with that.  I enjoy a drink and in the past have probably drunk too much (let's get rid of the "probably" - I have drunk too much) but I don't want to give it up completely.  I would just like to feel more confident about what I do drink on the occasion that I have a glass or two.

I have to say that I'm with @afraser in that the taste of most things - juice, softies, water - gets boring.  I do like a chinotto but I don't think zero sugar goes down well with Italians!

Hey all, Ive been watching this thread and thought Id jump back in and say I also DID ask my Oncologist and also when I did my rehabilitation Program all the Specialists including the Dietician. The Dietician was especially interesting in that she said and she was through the Epworth in Melbourne, that all things in moderation. IT is NO different for any illness or disease. A balanced diet and alcohol does not have to stop at all, its about moderation. If you think about it, they talk of alcohol in general isnt good for anyone in large amounts constantly and for any illness. I really wouldnt get too hung up on it ladies. Ive always said change the things you want but ultimately its about balance and LIVING!!! I only have a red wine probably once a month if Im lucky now and I LOVE IT LOL! but its only because chemo killed it for me in 2015, so I dont really drink much anymore.

So in all things just moderation, most Oncologists will tell you that. x
