I was reading through my diary today and found something I'd like to share with you all. A few weeks ago I arranged to have lunch with my work mates at uni who I hadn't seen for a month or too. This was also a chance for me to kill two birds with one stone; visit my wonderful work mates and also buy a birthday present for my sister at the jewellery shop which is also at uni. So I got all made up and donned a scarf and off I went. I walked into the shop and browsed while the owner served another customer. I've bought enough jewellery from this little shop over the past few years for the owner and I to be on a first name basis but I hadn't seen her since last year being off work since February. Anyway, after she had finished with the other customer, she came over to me and said "you know you remind me of a regular customer of mine. In fact you look just like her, her name is Jane". I had to laugh and said "I am Jane". Oh she was so embarrassed but to be fair, we didn't know each other that well and she hadn't seen me since last year. I told her not to worry and she then asked me why I hadn't been in for a while. I think she guessed that it had something to do with cancer. Would it have been the scarf on my head do you think? I explained what was happening to me and wouldn't you know it, she had BC about 10 years ago herself. We now have more than a casual connection! There is always someone out there who has been in our ranks that we can talk to and they can come from the strangest places sometimes! Just a little light hearted story I thought you'd all enjoy. Love from Jane x

    Thanks Mandy and Mich,
I thought that I should share some humour instead of only venting about my bad days. Humour has saved me more often than not. Get those endorphins going I say. Can only be good

It happens. My own mother didn't recognize me with a scarf on my head in the food court where I was meeting her.I loved your story.

Thanks Janey...I did read that a while back but enjoyed it again now than I am wearing the scarves and wig!  Yesterday I had to take my kids to a 10th birthday party at the pool so I thought maybe just wear the scarf/hat my sister made rather than my scratchy wig.....I felt liberated and took  onboard one of your previous comments that I would get used to no hair...well, you are right - I think I am adjusting even though I thought I never would!

The blonde wig on you looks heaps different too!  My daughter loved it....I prefer the brunette on you! My twin is not fond of me as brunette but when I skype her shortly I will wear it for a laugh anyway! Big hug to you Janey x

Your sister will certainly get a shock I think with the 'new' brunette you. Well I prefer the darker me but I must admit that my profile photo is a few years old now (it's just one of my favourite shot if my husband and me) and I'm not as dark as that any more. I am a little lighter more like my natural mousey colour. Oh whoops, actually I can't say that anymore, I'm grey. Eeeek!

Big hug right back at ya!
