Hi all, I’m on holidays away from home and did not take along my Tamoxifen. I will miss 5 days of it. What do I do?

Can you get your doctor or oncologist to provide a local chemist with a prescription? Best to talk to
one of them as otherwise this is a disruption of the medication - missing one day is usually OK but longer is a definite break.

    Hi @Stormbird63

In a discussion with my oncologist in June re tamoxifen she advised it takes approximately 1 month to get out of your system. ( For context i was reacting badly to it after having taken it for 20 months. I am now on Letrozole. ) So before changing to the AI I had a 6 week break to get all the tamoxifen out of my system

My message to you is not to panic. 5 days won't be the end of the world but I think @Afraser suggestion about getting your dr to provide a script to z local chemist is a good one.

    Enjoy yourself
..no biggie to contact gp or specialist rooms to organise new script if you are near services chemist etc
I know missing a couple days is ok
Like me always good to have a script on the phone
Maybe not a big break from meds so try not to worry
Just checkin with dr to coord when you should restart
    Cheers Bright

According to my oncologist having a break, every so,often from hormone blockers is ok -I took a month break in July when on holidays and it made visit to uluru great (could hike around better -less joint pain !) funnily enough ,went back on aromasin when I got home and the side effects seem less . I’d think 5 days won’t rock the boat too much .
