Does anyone know anything about removal of "crystals" from breast tissue?

A friend of mine mentioned she has had what she describes as crystals removed from her breast after a mammogram. There was nothing sinister but after they removed them they put in a clip so that the area is easy to identify in the future scans.
I haven't heard of this before I tried finding out more it seems like it may be crystals in calcifications but would be good to find more information
Thanks

Crystal structures can be found in calcification in the breast. I am not aware that the significance (if any) has been fully researched but it seems good practice, as @Cath62 says, to note the occurrence and keep
    records.
  • Hi @Geordie

I didnt have crystals but i have had cysts in my breast and they note where they are for future reference. Maybe this is a bit similar. I did have a cysts where my cancer was so any unusual thing in the breast is good to keep an eye on.
