I had a lovely day with lunch at a lookout, looking over the Glasshouse Mountains and dreaming about my next challenge. I am so lucky to be heading off to Nepal again later this year. My hubby (who used to say he had never walked anywhere since he got his licence at 17!) and I are going to try to climb a real mountain this time. It’s just a baby one (by Himalayan standards), but will be a HUGE challenge for us. The hardest bit will be the altitude and whether the weather conditions are gentle on us! Mera Peak is 6476m above sea level. That is just over a 1000m higher than we have been before. We are going to learn how to use basic climbing gear as we ‘climb’ on a glacier to get there.

I have no idea if we will be successful but we will give it a big try. The best bit is all the hiking we do to get fit for it. It is special together time away from the normal stress of life. We chat and joke and generally encourage each other to keep going. We will celebrate 30 years together later this year so who needs pearls when you can stand beside each other and look out at 5 of the 6 highest mountains in the world! So I am really looking forward to the year ahead and keeping my fingers crossed that I stay healthy! One step in front of the other and you never know where you can end up! This is the view if we make it!

Many Happies @Deanne ... I LOVE the Glass House Mountains area  .... as a kid growing up in Nambour in the 50s .... I learned about Tibrogargon having to throw one of his ‘children’ out into the ocean ... my sister lives there now.

WOW!  Enjoy Nepal!   I have a British friend (BC survivor) who visits every year in an educational factor ... and she just loves it, but doesn’t climb.
