Hi all,

Those of you've who've been around a while will have seen some discussions here about what we can all do to minimise spam in the online network.

I'm happy to let you know that we've now been able to put in place one more measure on the technical side that will hopefully help cut down on Private Message spam.

From now on, all users will have some limitations on the number of Personal Messages that can be sent. We don't think this will affect any of you genuine users (the limits are pretty generous), but it should stop anyone trying to send out bulk spam messages.

The changes are as follows--

  • personal messages can only be sent to 5 recipients at a time
  • no more than 20 messages can be sent in 24 hours.

As I said, the aim here is to minimise spam and not to inconvenience anyone, so if this causes you any problems, or you notice any bugs with messages or notifications, please let me know by leaving a comment on this post.
