BCNA is involved in a
partnership project aimed at understanding the experiences and concerns of
cancer survivors and carers within lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and
intersex communities. This group reports higher rates of cancer
related distress and dissatisfaction with care than the general population.
This project will examine the perspectives of cancer survivors, their carers
and professional stakeholders, to inform targeted patient and carer resources,
and recommendations for cancer care and policy.

The project is based at
Western Sydney University, in partnership with UNSW, Griffith, Monash, La Trobe
and Melbourne universities in partnership with The Cancer Council NSW, Prostate
Cancer Foundation, National LGBT Health Alliance, AIDS Councils of NSW, Breast
Cancer Network Australia, Sydney Children's Hospital Network and CANTEEN.

BCNA is planning a social
media post for next week to promote the project and is looking for
someone who would be comfortable sharing a photo of themselves with their
same sex partner to use in the post.
