Hi @SoldierCrab it’s totally fine I get why you feel that way lol. Our whole street is decorated and it looks lovely and I never used to be as festive as that as I never had the time but working part time I have a bit more time to do stuff like that and it as has kept me busy. And I’m just bloody grateful to be here to enjoy it to be honest lol!!! Either way I hope you have a great chriissy with your family xxx1

I'm sooo not festive. I don't own any decorations and haven't had a Christmas meal in over twenty years. Bah, humbug!
On a serious note, it is a really shitty time for many people--and I'm not talking about those who have to deal with spoilt children and Aunty Beryl getting pissed and falling in the trifle.
I decided a few years ago not to put up decorations in my library. I got some very interesting reactions. My boss was livid, how dare I ignore tradition! On the other hand many lonely grieving people, or those from other cultures, found it a welcome respite from the relentless assault of carols, commercial cheer and obscene consumerism. This was in a town where carols, at ear splitting volume, were piped through speakers in the town centre all December and the whole place groaned under the weight of tinsel and lights. I figured if you like that sort of thing there was no shortage of it elsewhere and we would provide a refuge for those, and we are many, who don't like it for one reason or another.5 -
Speaking of which, what happened to the other thread on the pros and cons of the festive season?0

Well now I feel bloody awful about putting up my post. I know it’s a shitty time for a lot of people out there and I get that but each Xmas I am here to spend with my family is a blessing and I know it’s a big commercialised pain in the arse and not always a time to celebrate and I feel for those people I truly do im a nurse and I see it all the time but if our lights or the pics of my poochies brIng a smile to a face of a few isn’t that ok ?..that’s what I thought anyway. I know the patients that come into work have had a good giggle over my tree even when they aren’t feeling so good so I am truly sorry if I’ve offended or upset any of you guys. Ill ask the BCNA team to take it down xx

DONT YOU dare take it down love your posts girl .......
we are all different and we all cope and deal with Christmas differently..... it is awesome what you do
I like seeing the posts about it. I just dont have any inkling to do it myself.1 -
@onemargie
It is nice to see the joy of Christmas! If others don't feel it that is fine too and that doesn't mean you should repeal your post! Seasons Greetings x

I'm a self confessed grinch, but don't retract one thing! Do what you enjoy! All I ask is people don't ask me to do it too. And on behalf of those who believe (and I am not one) remember there is a religious festival and belief in the heart of it all.1

@onemargie
DO NOT TAKE YOUR POST DOWN. It is there for the joy if people want to see it and if not they can move along to another post. I am not feeling too cheerful this year but pulled the finger out and put the tree up and I've even done the gift shopping - small tokens and to around $15 only per person (limited income) but each gift was bought with lots of thought.
It is a celebration that you are here to enjoy the festivities with your neighbourhood.
Love your furry kids !

Christmas brings lots of emotion and memories all in together. For me it's not Christmas until I have heard "Bing Crosby - The Small One" (A Christmas Story) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSf8jWNhQZU0
