Online network update
Afternoon all! Following on from my ‘Online network May update’ we will continue to provide regular updates on the website and online network. While we haven't had time to respond to every comment, our team has been busily working through all of the issues raised so far.
We're particularly grateful to all those who have been able to welcome new members and reply to blog posts this week. Our online network provides an important and ongoing need in the community, and we’re always welcoming new people looking for support. Thanks to those who continue to make this a supportive environment!
Some of the issues that our developers have addressed this week are:
- Samsung mobile/tablets: users of a Samsung device are now are to log in to the online network J
- Notifications: you can now turn ON or OFF a daily notification to your private email account from your profile ‘Settings’
- Report: In the case you come across content in the online network that’s not in accordance with the online network terms of use or guidelines you can now include text when you report content as ‘Inappropriate’ or as ‘Spam’. This will help BCNA to appropriately assess reported content.
- Adding links within a blog post: some users have had issues when adding a link into a blog post.
To find out how to use some of the new features, visit the Help & FAQ section on our website or download this quick tips doco.
In the coming weeks, some of the higher priority issues include:
- Online network design: We’ve had initial discussions with the website design team to review the way we present information on the online network landing page. You will see improvements over the coming weeks making your experience a little easier from all devices e.g. PC to mobile.
- Messages: Improvements will be made to the online network mailbox and the way you find, search and managed messages.
To clarify one issue that has been raised in previous discussions, the new website is built on a different system to the previous version. This change isn't reversible, and it's not possible to simply revert to the old site. However, the new system is far better able to manage the requirements of our site as it grows. We're confident that once our navigation and usability issues have been fixed, the new website will provide the best possible support for our network.
If there are topics you'd like help with, please let us know by commenting below. If you have tips to share about using the new website, you can create a new post using the tag "New website" - as ‘Chorsell’ has already done with her excellent "How do I..." post.
Thanks for your patience so far - we hope that you have a good weekend.

Thanks Daina for the update. I know each of these problems are probably minor in the grand scheme of things but when you put them all together they become incredibly frustrating. I like to check in while I have my first cuppa of the morning & like to use my tablet or when I travel, I take my tablet instead of a laptop so having that problem fixed is great for me ......& lots of others too. Keep up the good work. Thanks.

Good to hear that the website will get more user friendly. I am missing the old site which got us up and going in seconds. One suggestion - please don't take the wrong way - is I would welcome a cutback from the in-your-face marketing for fundraising. There is not a month in the calendar when there is not something for breast cancer in my community, nand I am a happy supporter for such an important cause, but when I visit this site, I am not looking for more. I am seeking information and support. I have clicked the "off" button a few times out of frustration.

Great to hear work is continuing.
Do you plan to give members power over their own comments and allowing them to edit them?
