Hello everyone and welcome to Fridays update.  Wow what an amazing weekend was had last weekend!

2018 Field of Women

Such a great experience to stand on the MCG with over 12,000 others to mark the 20th Anniversary of Breast Cancer Network Australia’s work to support, inform, represent and connect all Australians affected by breast cancer.  You can see all the Field of Women photos here and the Field of Women streamed live on Facebook

Plan C Conference

The Plan C conference was held concurrently with Plan B conference.  What a great day and great opportunity for all involved in the conference to meet and get to know each other.  Riki and I are in the process of collating a summary of some of the major discussions had on the day and will post online as soon as this is available.

Following the formal presentations we had the opportunity to have some facilitated group discussion.  The topic for discussion was ‘You look so well, when does your treatment finish?’ This discussion was facilitated by @MoiraC, one of our community members.  You can read the great summary provided by @MoiraC below.  A big thank you to you Moira, it was great to meet you and your partner last Saturday. We really hope that this discussion will continue in the Living with Metastatic Breast Cancer online group, see thread below

Dr Sophie Lewis from the University of NSW is currently undertaking qualitative research into the experiences of women living with metastatic breast cancer. Sophie has been conducting interviews and collecting diary notes from women diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer to learn what supportive care is most important to women as they live with this disease. She will speak about the preliminary findings of her study.

Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day is on 13 October. This day is being marked throughout the world as a day to acknowledge people living with metastatic breast cancer and to highlight their voices and experience. We will acknowledge this important day with afternoon tea after Sophie’s presentation.

  • Why do we have to give our mobile phone details as well as email to be able to see the webcast for Plan B?  I actually find that quite invasive & annoying.

My phone is for my personal use ..... and is quite irrelevant to them .... The other questions can be considered 'fact finding' .... but also not really necessary!    They are not medical people - they just have a platform to show a video!

Just being 'picky' I guess!!  I won't be signing up!  :(
  • @jennyss I think you have to be a member of the mets group to read it.
  • I clicked into the link to 'Issues raised in Plan C Survivors Discussion', and I got 'permission problem, you don't have permission  to do that'. Any ideas?
