Re: Chemo first
Hiya I was diagnosed in October and was also advised to have chemo first to shrink the masses in my breast and axilla prior to surgery, both of which are grade 3 triple positive. I've had one session of a/c and my next is due on Tuesday. I've already found that both masses have reduced which has really given me a boost . I'll still need surgery after 4 x A/C and 12 x Taxol but it'll be less invasive, I also had a clip inserted into the mass in my breast, prior to chemo, so that they can confirm the area it was in should it shrink down to zip. Hiya all done and dusted!! Was a little sore once the local had worn off last night but a couple of paracetamol sorted that out. Wasn't as bad as i'd thought it would be although when i found the 10 people wandering around me all looking very professional it was a bit nerve wracking. But all good in the end. Because I'm having chemo before my surgery they decided to position my port on the left side so it can stay there through all my treatment. Means that i can drive my car ( writing this while waiting for it to be serviced) and the seatbelt doesn't catch the port. Well just chemo to look forward to on tuesday now!! Another step on the path. Feel much better now that I'm actively going to be doing something to actively fight this thing rather than just to sit passively and let it run riot!!3Views3likes0CommentsPort Insertion Tomorrow
Hi All I'm having a port inserted into my chest tomorrow prior to starting chemo next week (my veins are too fragile to cope with lots of needles apparently). Caulfield Cup is on 21st October, my initial appointment with the oncologist is on Monday (16th) so I'm presuming that my chemo won't start until the following week at the earliest. So I got my results yesterday, bit of a relief as it could have been loads worse. Bone and CT scans were clear so it hasn't spread anywhere, I have grade 3 Oestrogen+ve and HER2+ve, but they're going to retest to confirm how receptive to HER2 it is. My breast cancer nurse is organising the initial meeting with the oncologist as I'll be having chemo before my surgery, which she thinks will start in the next 2 weeks. We were planning to go to the Caulfield Cup so I'm going to go there before I start chemo. Just worried about the chemo, (how long will it go on for / side effects / being able to work) but at least i know what it is and there is a plan in place (albeit a little hazy) for me to work with. Should have probably taken someone other than my husband tho, he has the attention span of a 2 yr old, but he held my hand very well!!5Views2likes0CommentsRe: Bone Scans - What they're like
My arms were also in a little strap thing to hold them by my sides to keep my arms still, they did put a towel between my feet and taped them together to keep them still. Was a little unnerving when the top plate dropped down close to my face but the nurse was incredibly reassuring. I just closed my eyes and relaxed for the 15 mins it lasted for, agree @Zoffiel that I don't usually get the opportunity for that!61Views0likes0Comments
