Re: Mackay Breast Cancer Support Group - Outdoor Event 16 May
Hi @Cath6053 How was your first face to face group meeting after the easing of COVID19 restrictions? We are progressing more slowly with the easing of restrictions down in Victoria but had some glorious Autumn weather in Melbourne this past weekend. So many people were out and about with their family and friends enjoying the sun and opportunity to connect again in person - at a distance! Did the support group dynamics change between virtual and face to face meetings? I'm sure the online community would be interested to hear how you went.16Views0likes0CommentsRe: to work or not to work
Hi @Pamella you've had some good suggestions there to think about. Can I suggest a couple of other resources? There is a molecular test available under certain circumstances to help clarify if the addition of chemotherapy to radiotherapy and homone blocking therapy will provide additional benefit. The cost of the test is around $4000 and is not covered by Medicare. it may be worth asking your oncologist if your situation makes you eligible for the test. Here is the link for more information: https://www.bcna.org.au/understanding-breast-cancer/treatment/surgery/breast-cancer-pathology/ The other resource is the My Journey online tool - which I think you have linked to already. If you would like to talk through your choice with someone, don't hesitate to contact the BCNA Helpline on 1800 500 258 Mon-Fri 9m-5pm EST. Best wishes20Views2likes0CommentsRe: Supermarket Deliveries
Hi @kmakm, @Loobylou, thanks for bringing this to our attention. Yes, as someone having chemotherapy she is a vulnerable and at risk community member. I will escalate this to the team and see if we can have people receiving treatments for cancer added to those able to access online deliveries. Take care both of you <317Views3likes0CommentsRe: New research breast cancer prevention and Anastrozole/Arimidex
Hi @Temple, Your concern about the side effects of these hormone blocking therapies is widely shared by many of the readers and posters on the network. Here is the thread from one of the previous discussions about side effects of aromatase inhibitors posted by @Emma17 https://onlinenetwork.bcna.org.au/discussion/21028/asco-2019-aromatase-inhibitors-women-need-better-treatments-for-side-effects and another by @jennyss https://onlinenetwork.bcna.org.au/discussion/20921/more-research-needed-into-side-effects-of-chemo-and-hormone-therapy/p1 I hope these threads shed some light on the experiences of others with these drugs. The question of benefit was discussed in the BCNA webcast Hormone blocking therapy - is it worth it? https://login.redbackconferencing.com.au/landers/page/b8a6d838Views1like0CommentsRe: Advance notice - BCNA Queensland Conference 12 & 13 October 2019
Hi @"Patti J", i have checked and viewers watching through the live stream will not be able to submit questions during the stream. This is due to technical limitations. If you have something you wish to ask please let me know & @Riki_BCNA will ask for you as she is there.50Views0likes0CommentsRe: Advance notice - BCNA Queensland Conference 12 & 13 October 2019
