Should Facebook relax its rules?

Do you think Facebook should relax it's no-nudity rules for health issues?

Rowena Kincaid, who was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer, posted a photo of a rash around her nipple on her page Rowena Kincaid: Before I Kick The Bucket to raise awareness of a little known symptom. According to its community standards, Facebook restricts "some images of female breasts if they include the nipple". So, Facebook removed the picture. After some outrage and media attention, the photo has been restored.

What do you think? Should pictures like this be allowed?

    Hi Cosette,

I had a look at this particular situation and I think that in this case it seems to be a helpful thing. The comments certainly suggest that she has succeeded in raising awareness that BC does not always present as a lump. I can understand her wish to share this to help others.

However, I have also recently seen a photo being shared on Facebook which showed a woman who had had a double mastectomy and very recent radiation to one side. It was supposedly being shared to raise awareness about breast cancer but was not accompanied by any info. I felt that this was more for shock effect and many people might even think that the radiation skin effects were something to do with the cancer rather than a side effect of treatment.

I guess my thoughts are that photos need to be shared with good educational information and unfortunately people can use these images in unintended ways. What starts off with good intentions can be abused in the wrong hands. Am interested in what others think and have experienced. Deanne

Unfotunately in this day and age there will always be do gooders and people who are offended and deviates. This is unfortunately the world we now live in, that post was changed but you can type in porn and have access to this area and no one complains. Can't figure it out.
